Project Details
The Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Headquarters project is a distinctive, LEED Silver-certified office development located in Edmonton, Alberta. Spanning approximately 125,000 square feet, this project features a four-storey modular design consisting of four interconnected wings of varying floor heights, joined by floating staircases. Designed by Next Architecture and built by Bird Construction, the structure includes cast-in-place concrete piles and showcases innovative architectural and structural planning. With a total project value of approximately $49 million, the facility provides expanded and consolidated office and meeting space for AUPE’s operations and membership, supporting over 95,000 members across Alberta. This modernized facility emphasizes sustainability and collaboration, aligning with AUPE’s commitment to supporting its growing union.
Inline worked as a sub-contractor for Bird Construction during the construction of the AUPE Headquarters. We were hired to perform geotechnical engineering and materials testing for all soils, concrete, and asphalt work throughout the project. Our engineers and technicians were heavily relied upon for both on-site services and laboratory testing during the entire construction process. Inline was also responsible for reviewing piling schedules and overseeing the installation of cast-in-place building piles, including continuous on-site monitoring and final pile inspections. In addition to our technical services, Inline team members contributed to project documentation, including UAV imagery that captured the complexity and uniqueness of the building’s layout and form.
